Many of the parents who attended December’s Mindfulness Workshop wanted more, so Bernadette C. Smith M.Ed (Strath Haven Middle School Teacher) and Gloria Shephard M.Ed are pleased to offer two sessions on how to bring mindfulness into parenting. Sessions will cover deep listening, paying attention, developing a better understanding of the teenage brain, and changing our relationships to our own thoughts and feelings.
WHEN: 7-8 PM on Jan 25th and Feb 8th (both Mondays)
WHERE: Strath Haven High School Library (2nd floor)
Please RSVP to Bernadette Smith (email@example.com) by 1/22/16 so we can arrange for seating. Please plan to attend both sessions; however, one is better than none!
SHHS Home and School Association is looking for people interested in serving as treasurer. If you might be, please should email Suzy Hoyle no later than Monday, January 4th. Applications will be reviewed by the SHHS HSA Board early January and a new treasurer appointed at the February HSA meeting. Thank you!
This is the last week to submit a photograph of your little angel for inclusion in the yearbook. Once you have a scanned image, follow the instructions on this Google doc page. It costs $45 (make check payable to “SHHS Activities – Yearbook”).
Also, if you have any photos of seniors (and their friends) when they were in elementary school, email them to firstname.lastname@example.org. Please include in the email the names and positions of all the students in the photos. We can accept these candids until around Valentine’s day.

For those of you who missed it, here are Dr Yannacone’s “State of the High School” presentation slides (PPT). And here are the minutes (PDF).
At this Thursday’s Home and School meeting, members of the Guidance Office will provide details on the services they provide (for all years, not just Seniors) and an overview of curriculum and standardized test schedules. After this presentation, parents are invited to stay for the business portion of the meeting (we’ll be voting on Wish List items for teachers, groups). We’ll be starting at 6 pm sharp so that we can wrap up the meeting in time for people to attend Handbag Bingo event.
